AN INSPIRATION OF NOTE

It’s a goofy post, I know, but the names are so similar, and it would be kinda fun if the great Lauren Flanigan sold home furnishings, wouldn’t it? And wouldn’t it be even more fun if we could aspire to the dramatic style Flanigan displays onstage? This singing actress’ neutral gear delivers an intensity few other sopranos get anywhere near — and then, of course, she cranks it even higher, making the most of an astonishing repertoire.

And no wonder I’m excited: Lauren Flanigan will be singing Monday night with Glen Roven at Urban Stages, and I hope to see you there, too.

Lauren Flanigan appears in I Hate Music: The Songs of Glen Roven as part of the “Winter Rhythms” series — which also includes the great Janice Hall in a brand-new show, I’d Rather Be Doing This, on Tuesday, 6 December at 7PM. I’ll be at that one, too.
